A Guide to the Resource Bank

The Shakespeare Curriculum Resource Bank is a library of thousands of assets, all free for you to use to engage and inspire students. Some of the resources have been created for the Shakespeare Curriculum, while some are from the RSC's archives. Many of these resources can be found in our lessons and revision materials.

In this guide, we'll look at how you can use the Resource Bank to access a wealth of resources for teaching and learning about Shakespeare.

###What's in the Resource Bank? The Resource Bank has a wide range of resources, including:

Audio: recordings of key scenes, soundscapes and music.

Character cards: profiles of a play's characters, complete with images from past productions.

Handouts: pdf and doc versions of all handouts used in lessons, including texts, worksheets, templates and more.

Images: hundreds of images from productions dating back over the past century.

Quizzes: interactive quizzes to help students revise the play.

Quote cards: key quotes from the plays, complete with analysis and a question to prompt further exploration.

Videos: hundreds of videos from past productions, scene studies, interviews and context films.

And, of course, a full production video for each play.

###How do I search the Resource Bank? There are three main ways to search for resources:

By play content
In the top-left menu, you can refine your search by the character, scene or theme within a play. You can tick as many of these as you like. Searching in this way will give you a range of different resource types.

By resource type
In the bottom-left menu, you can refine your search by resource type. You can tick as many of these as you like. Searching in this way will only bring up the resource types you've selected.

By both
You can use both of these filters to narrow down your search. Say, for example, you wanted to search for videos of Banquo in Act 1, Scene 2 of Macbeth. You'd tick:

Characters - Banquo
Scenes - Act 1, Scene 2
Resource Type - Videos

###Creating "favourite" resources To find your favourite resources easily, click the star as they appear on your search. This will save them to My Resources in My Workspace.

###Adding your own resources You can add your own resources to the Resource Bank by clicking Upload Resource in My Workspace. These resources will only be available to you, your colleagues and classes - they will not be available externally.

###Who can access the Resource Bank? The Resource Bank is available to both students and teachers. The RSC holds the copyright for assets within the Resource Bank, but they can be used within the Shakespeare Curriculum.
