Your Privacy: What You Need to Know

This page explains how we look after your personal information when you use the Shakespeare Curriculum. It’s written for young people under 18.

If you want to know how we handle teacher or school data, you can read the full privacy policy.

Who We Are

The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) is incorporated under Royal Charter and is a charity registered in England and Wales (Charity Number 212481).

RSC Enterprise Limited (CRN 2360172) is a private limited company that is a 100% owned subsidiary of The Royal Shakespeare Company that carries out a range of commercial trading activities to generate income for the RSC.

We’re the team behind The Shakespeare Curriculum. We run the platform and make sure it’s safe, useful, and fun to use.

What Information We Collect About You

We collect some personal details when you use The Shakespeare Curriculum. This includes:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your school name and address
  • Your key stage, year group, and class name
  • Any photos, videos, or audio you upload directly to the platform (this might include your image, voice, or things you say)
  • How you use the platform (like which pages you visit or features you use)

Sometimes, if you write personal reflections or upload creative work, it might include sensitive information like your beliefs or opinions. We don’t ask for this, but we treat it carefully if you choose to share it.

Why We Collect Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Let you log in and use the platform
  • Help your school track your progress of your assignments
  • Improve the platform by looking at how people use it
  • Share anonymised analytics data (with your name removed) to show funders how the platform is working (this will not include your content)
  • Keep the platform safe and follow the law

We only use your information when we have a good reason to – like when it helps us run the platform properly, or when the law says we need to.

##Who We Share Your Information With

We sometimes share your data with:

  • Charanga, who help run The Shakespeare Curriculum platform
  • Funders like Arts Council England (but only anonymised data)
  • Social media (if we post anonymised content to show what the project is doing)
  • Trusted companies who help us run our website and services

We never sell your data, and we make sure anyone we work with keeps it safe.

How We Keep Your Data Safe

We store your data in secure systems. Only trained staff and approved developers can access it – and only when they need to.

If we share data with someone else, we make sure there’s a proper agreement in place to protect it.

##How Long We Keep Your Data We keep pupil data on the platform for seven years. After that, we archive anonymised data for future research and statistics.

Your Rights

You have rights over your personal data. You can:

  • Ask to see what data we have about you
  • Ask us to fix anything that’s wrong
  • Ask us to delete your data (in some cases)
  • Ask us to stop using your data (in some cases – this may require confirmation from your teacher and school)
  • Ask us to send your data to someone else
  • Say no to automated decisions about you

If you ever want to change or update your information, ask your school’s account administrator—they can help.
